SHIFT/SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday  |  1st, 2nd and 3rd Shift
REPORTS TO: Supervisor

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Aerosol Line Worker is responsible for maintaining the flow of cans to completion on the aerosol production line. Position on production line can vary to include the following: can stager, water bath monitor, tipper, capper, and packer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

CAN STAGER
Primary Responsibility: Verify correct cans are pulled for order and maintain a consistent flow of cans to the aerosol lines by loading can table.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:

  • Verify line stager has brought correct cans to the line, using pallet tags on can pallets and batch ticket. Initial batch ticket once cans have been verified.
  • Inspect cans as they are loaded onto table for the following:
    • Rust, water, dirt, etc. inside the container that could cause contamination or corrosion
    • Rust on the exterior of can
    • Dented cans
    • Imperfections in screened cans – scratches or dents
  • All empty cans found to be defective need to be placed in a scrap box on the line and counted and documented on batch ticket at the end of the run.
  • Cover any partial pallets with shrink wrap to keep cans from being exposed to the environment and to prevent cans from falling during transport.

 

WATER BATH MONITOR
Primary Responsibility: Verify filled cans weight after coming out of gassing house and checking cans for leaks as they go through the water bath. 

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:

  • Verify filled can weights for both production lines as cans are coming out of the gassing house.
  • Monitor screened cans for any signs of dents or scratches to the can due to production line.
  • Monitor filled cans as they travel through the water bath for any signs of leaking cans.
  • Pull defective cans from the line or water bath as needed.
    • If cans are to be reworked back into the line notify the machine operator.
    • For filled cans that are going to the waste area, label box of with the product number so that the cans can be discarded to the appropriate waste stream. Do not throw any filled cans into the trash can.
  • Notify the machine operator to stop the line if any items listed above are found.

 

TIPPING/LABELING
Primary Responsibility: Responsible for inserting tips (actuators) into aerosol valves during production and assuming other related duties.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:

  • Verify correct tips have been brought over to the line by comparing label on box of tips to item number listed on batch ticket. Initial batch ticket once tips have been verified.
  • Make sure enough tips have been pulled to the line, so as not to hamper production efficiency.
  • Prior to line startup, ensure the correct lot code has been entered in the can inkjet printer. Test a few cans to ensure lot code is clear and legible once printed on can.
  • Set up label machine and ensure labels will go onto cans correctly.
  • Keep visual checks on cans, looking for any damaged or leaking cans.  
  • Make timely checks that lot code is being printed onto cans. Stop line if lot numbers are not printed onto cans.    
  • If any labels are wrinkled or crooked, remove from line to be reworked.
  • Upon completion of an order, close and tape box of tips and place a “PARTIAL” sticker on the outside of the box. Return the box of tips to the proper storage location. 

CAPPER

Primary Responsibility: Responsible for placing caps onto aerosol cans during production and assuming other duties as necessary, such as labeling and packing.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:

  • Verify correct caps (color/type) have been brought over to the line by comparing label on box of caps to item number listed on batch ticket. Initial batch ticket once caps have been verified.
  • Make sure enough caps have been pulled to the line, so as not to hamper production efficiency.
  • Keep visual checks on cans for the following, before capping the product:
    • Lot codes present on dome of cans
    • Tips have been properly placed
    • No chemical residue or water on top or sides of cans
  • Remove any cans with wrinkled or crooked labels to be reworked.
  • Upon completion of an order, close and tape box of caps and place a “PARTIAL” sticker on the outside of the box. Return box of caps to designated storage location.

PACKER
Primary Responsibility: Responsible for placing filled aerosol cans into boxes and/or stacking onto pallets.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:

  • Verify correct boxes have been brought over to the line by comparing item numbers printed on box to item numbers listed on batch ticket. Initial batch ticket once boxes have been verified.
  • Ensure boxes are labeled with the appropriate labels prior to line startup, whether it is 4x6 white label or PS labels. Apply labels to boxes in an even uniform manner.
  • Ensure lot code has correct number and is turned on to place lot codes on all boxes. Ensure the lot code is clear and legible. 
  • Add dividers when required and pack cans into boxes ensuring all caps remain on cans once placed in the box.
  • Run packed box through tape machine, ensuring box is sealed properly.
  • Pack boxes onto pallet according to established stack patterns.
  • Upon completion of a pallet, apply the pallet tag with the quantity of cases recorded.  

Ensure that all Personal Protective Equipment requirements are met.

  • As time allows, assist in final assembly of product.
  • Verify with supervisor as to end of production
  • Keep area clean and organized
  • Report any problems to the supervisor immediately
  • Any other duties or projects which may be assigned by the Supervisor

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High school or equivalent preferred.  Experience working on a production line desired. Forklift experience preferred.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time during shift
  • Must be able to adhere to process protocol
  • Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment
